Geena B. and the CO2's emissions
(Art, gastronomy, and environmental protection as a main course)
At first, they were simple words then, in the process of time they became slogans, howlings in the battle. They are words like "environmental protection", "growing public awareness to ecology", "consumer's power", "biological agriculture"… ect
The fact they didn't remain just words is definitely to be considered as a great success. This is a success undoubtedly due to a philosophy of consummation turned towards nature.
A participation, as far as an artist could contribute is coming this time from the singer Geena.B.
There's no need no explain how obvious the harmony between art and gastronomy is since this harmony has been characteristic in various periods of the history.
But our gastronomy, our nutrition affect drastically the global level of CO2 emission due to the pollution generated by the transport of the goods but also to the characteristics of the product itself.
Most certainly, everyone knows that a Porsche Cayenne rejects a higher quantity of CO2 than a VW Polo does but only a few people know that the beef's meat rejects ten times more CO2 than chicken's meat does.
Such relevant differences in the CO2 rejection can be observed as well between various kind of fruits and vegetables.
In order to help us to do not get lost in the middle of all these values the "ecological print" of every product will be soon displayed on the packing, this system is already operative in Sweden.
The Swedish government has released a study explaining that if every Swedish citizen would pay attention to the ecological consummation, the CO2 emission would decrease.
Obviously, some criterions of valuation should be reconsidered in our county as well. It would be wise to avoid for instance the non-sense of selling and purchasing apples from Chili requiring a long expensive and pollutant transport when we are producing tons of apples at home!
Purchasing local products would contribute to the environmental protection and help the local economy which would be a great advantage for all us in the future as far as health is concerned.
A good advice would be also, in case we happen to experience a lack of fantasy for the choice of our menu to remember the old grandma’s receipts!
Geena B. will try to gather music and gastronomy in sintony with this theme organizing dinners in collaboration with five restaurant's owners aiming to respect the ecological rules in their restaurant For example; they will manage to avoid the emission of CO2 during the transport and the stocking of the goods favoriting local products. In addition, they will pay particular attention to the "ecological print" of the products they will use.
Beside the gastronomy we have also planned a musical entertainment. In this occasion, Geena.B and her band "Geena.B & her Valentines" will introduced to the audience their new album "songs from the next door" featuring mainly original songs recorded partly unplugged and the kind of music is alternative, folk, blues and jazz. This album has been already successfully released abroad with a very positive feed-back from the public and will be presented for the first time in our land.
The evening shows will also include the presence and performance of painters and for some of the evenings the presentation of a fashion-show based on recycled products.
The meaning of this event is a tribute to cooking, art and ecology. We hope that the public will be numerous, even travelling a longer distance than the dinner's ingredients will!
The ecological print: this values does not included transport and stocking.
